The Beauty In The Home Collection

At the end of August, I released a new fine art collection called "Beauty In The Home". This collection helped me get out of a creative rut that I had been in since having my son. The “Beauty In The Home” Collection will always have a special place in my heart because of it. Let me share how this collection came about!

Back in March of this year, I was struggling with where to pick back up with my art business. After having my son William I took a year off to give myself the time to heal and adjust to this new chapter in my life. I still worked on a few commissions behind the scenes, but I soon learned commissions weren't as doable with a little one, especially if I wanted to keep my creative inspiration. During this struggle, I was also going through the dreary months in the state of Washington. The days were long and cold and we are talking rain for days with no sun in sight for weeks. To beat the dreary weather I would browse local thrift shops looking for unique pieces to make my house just a little bit more cheerful. On the days I wasn't thrifting I would bundle up my son William and myself and go for little nature walks around our neighborhood. We would stop and look at all the beautiful flowers that were flourishing in the rainy weather. I started bringing some of those blooms that I found on our walks into my home to brighten up my space during those dreary days. The vases that I would put those rainy day flowers in were the antique vases that I had recently found a the thrift shops and they looked so beautiful sitting on my dining room table holding those blooms. They reminded me of still-life paintings.
One day during naptime I brought down my watercolors and set them up at my dining room table and started to paint. I started painting the antique vase that was holding a beautiful bouquet right in front of me and I knew at that moment I needed to paint a collection and call it "Beauty In The Home".

This collection has truly helped me out of a deep creative rut and has opened the door to many more collections in the future!
